The PDA gives the player this information instantly no matter where they are, without needing to be present to observe which creature came from which egg. Until they hatch, an egg is labeled as an unknown creature egg, changing to match the name of the creature the egg contained if it hatches inside an Alien Containment. They are the unhatched versions of their respective Fauna.
